About the award
The Miller Family Award for Two-Year Accounting Teaching Excellence recognizes outstanding accounting educators teaching at two-year colleges in the United States.
Established by Dr. Tracie Miller, CPA in honor of her parents, Kipp and Sylvia Miller, to recognize outstanding educators and celebrate a lifelong commitment to community and service, this award supports excellence in teaching and meaningful engagement in the two-year accounting educator community.
Recipients receive $5,000 to support attendance and presentation at the designated TACTYC conference — covering conference registration, travel, and lodging. The award is funded by Tracie Miller through a permanent endowment held and managed by AcctoFi, with support from TXCPA.
Eligibility
To apply, you must:
- Be actively teaching accounting at a U.S.-based two-year or associate-degree granting institution
- Have a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
- Be a current TACTYC member
- Not be teaching solely in a baccalaureate or graduate program
- Not have previously received this award
What recipients commit to
If selected, the recipient agrees to:
- Attend the designated TACTYC conference
- Present a session highlighting innovative teaching practices
- Participate in recognition activities associated with the award
2026 – 2027 timeline
How to apply
The application asks about your teaching strategies and innovations, evidence of teaching effectiveness, contributions to your college, community, or the profession, and your future plans — plus a CV or resume.
